Back in the good old days, wedding catering used to be a lot different.

It was all about traditional, well-loved three-course sit-down meals, followed by a finger buffet in the evening.

Over time, however, as our tastes changed and our hunger for more unique events grew – what guests eat and drink on a wedding day has become one of – if not the – most important component of a memorable day.

When we get invited to weddings, let’s not kid ourselves – we probably look forward to the reception more than anything.

And this is reflected in our changing wedding priorities.

In fact, budgets allocated for hospitality has continued to rise, with prices for food and drink increasing by as much as 23%.

If there’s one thing we love here at Plyvine (other than catering, of course), it’s thinking about what the future holds for weddings and other special occasions.

And as we’re approaching the end of 2019, we thought we’d bring you 5 wedding trends we can expect to see in the new year.

From edible displays to outdoor BBQs – 2020 is looking good already.
